Engineering Lyceum of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University
In 1963 Vilnius 22nd secondary school was established. In 1993 the school was named after Mikalojus Dauksa. On the 1st September 2015 the school became Vilnius Engineering Lyceum, and on the 1st September 2016 it became engineering lyceum of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University.
There are 1319 students and 125 teachers. Since 2011 Lyceum has carried out in-depth technology, science and mathematics education. Students start learning engineering in the 1st grade, and in Year 9 they begin to study design. Engineering framework program is integrated in all the lessons. 15-19 year old students go to Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, where they perform a variety of physics, biology, chemistry laboratory work, working together with university students and professors.
In 2014 Lyceum established the first Confucius class in Lithuania. Here students learn the Chinese language and culture. This year, the Chinese language taught as an integrated subject in the second and third forms, high school students choose Chinese as a third foreign language.
The school joined the PASCH schools network, which means that students have an oppurtunity to do DSD German language exam. Lyceum cooperates and actively works with the social partners: Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Geote Institue, VU Confucius Institue, Education Development Centre, Robotics Academy. Cooperating with the social partners, pursuing a higher quality of education, creativity and a wider variety of ways of self-expression needs, the school community is constantly evolving.
The community studies and disseminates good practice by cooperating. The school has a strong team of teachers: 7 expert teachersi 20 teachers methodologists, author of textbooks and workbooks. Teachers go on internships abroad and Lithuania. Also, other school teachers went on internship at this Lyceum. The school is an active community where school, city national and international projects are constantly implemented. Students are the winners of various competitions and olympiads. The student self-goverment and Elders Council integrates the students community actively organizing promotions, events, training and participation in youth programs. Lyceum has a strong ICT base. The school updates the computer equipment each year.
